Abstract
This study investigates the effect of social relationship and school violence on adolescents¡¯s emotional/ behavior problems with 609 persons in middle school students. The cohorts belong to the 2009 panel of the Korean welfare panel study. According to the hierarchical regression analysis, the present study found the different effects of social relationships and school violence on the emotional and behavior problems. The results are as follows: First, parent¡¯s relationship, teacher¡¯s relationship and the victim of school violence have an effect on the internal emotional & behavior problems. Second, parent¡¯s relatioship, deviant peers, and school violence exert an effect on the external problems. Especially, deviant peers and school violence have an effect on the emotional/behavior problems. These results agree with the part of The General Strain Theory. In conclusion, this study suggests that counselors should have different strategies for adolescents exposed to school violence.
